Tips

  • Disconnect outside hoses.  If left
    connected, water in the hoses
    can freeze and expand causing
pipes inside your home to freeze
    and break.

  • Check for outdoor faucets for
    drips or leaks.

  • Beware when pipes freeze,
    water pressure builds causing
cracks (even if pipes are made
    of copper, steel or plastic.

  • A tiny crack can loose more than
250 gallons of water in a single
    day.

  • If you home is equipped with
    shut-off vales leading to outside
    faucets, close them and drain
    water from line.

  • Insulate pipes in unheated
    areas, ex: garages, crawlspace

  • Cover outside faucets using a
    insulation cover.
